This year’s mass rallies are especially significant as they coincide with the 40th-day memorial for Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), who was assassinated together with his comrades in a US drone strike in Baghdad in early January.

Rasa - Sheikh Akram al-Kaabi, the leader of Hezbollah al-Nujaba, a major Iraqi Shiite resistance movement fighting the ISIL, announced that Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Qassem Soleimani is in Iraq along with other Iranian military advisors.

Arab media outlets claimed that Commander of Iran's IRGC Qods Force Major General Qassem Suleimani is in Southern Aleppo in order to discuss an upcoming large-scale offensive with his counterparts in the Syrian Army.
