RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ja’far Fadhlullah, a teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Beirut, referred to the efforts of some groups in Iran to weaken or distort the thoughts of Imam Khomeyni and said, “That the late Imam encouraged the Islamic government in Iran and made ijtihad the most important element in determining the general policies of the Islamic Republic.”
The Lebanese scholar said, “The ijtihad that Imam Khomeyni emphasized means that each of the rulings that are implemented in the country has its rules and basis in some way in the Quran and sunnah. In fact, the general policies of the system are based on Islamic jurisprudence and rules that can not be changed without a jurisprudential and religious reason.”
Hujjat al-Islam Fadhlullah added, “Some want to distance Iranian society from some of the revolutionary aspects of Imam Khomeyni’s thought but it must be said that any attempt to raise an idea against the Imam’s thoughts must be based on correct jurisprudential and religious arguments because distorting their ideas will bring a model of governance in Iran that will lead the country to chaos.”
He referred to the thirtieth year of the leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei and said, “Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent) is a model of Islamic government that governs Iran along with the governing institutions of Iran and the recognition of the Wali al-Faqih (Guardian-Jurist) is done by the elected representatives in the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership and it’s a model of modern popular sovereignty that, like other current systems, doesn’t depend on a single person or family.”
