Iran’s Supreme Leader granted amnesty or commutation to a number of convicts. ‎

RNA – On the blessed occasions of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir, the Supreme Leader of ‎Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, granted amnesty or commutation for the ‎sentences of 2,135 of those convicted in the General and Revolutionary Courts, the Justice ‎Administration of the Armed Forces, and the Government Discretionary Punishments ‎Organization.‎

In a letter to the Supreme Leader on the occasions of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir, the ‎Chief Justice of Iran, Hujjat al-Islam Ebrahim Raeisi, proposed granting amnesty, ‎commutation or a change of punishment for these convicts whose cases had been reviewed ‎and approved by the Amnesty and Commutation Committee. In the implementation of ‎Paragraph 11 of Article 110 of the Constitution, this proposal was accepted by Ayatollah ‎Khamenei.‎
