Rasa News Agency Reports – In his meeting with the members of the Basij (Volunteer) of Artists, the head of the Imam Khomeini Education and Research Institute, Ayatullah Misbah Yazdi, stated that the human life has different dimensions and said: “Art relates to beauty and is connected with the human emotions, therefore arts dimensions are different from those of science and philosophy because science and philosophy are related to thoughts”.
“Religion has a connection with all of the dimensions and art and religion can provide interactive services together” he said, mentioning that art and religious have close relationships.
Saying that western countries have had eye catching evolutions in science, philosophy, art and management in the previous decades, Ayatullah Yazdi stated: “In these periods not only haven’t we progressed but we have gone back”.
“Today however, thanks to the Islamic revolution, effective actions have taken place in science and most of these regresses have been compensated” he added.
Emphasizing that today, no-one can deny Iran’s progresses, he said: “although we are far from the proper situation, but today, Iran is among the worlds developed countries thanks to the Islamic Republic”.
In mentioning the political progresses of the country beside the scientific ones, the representative of the people of Tehran in the assembly of experts stated: “Both friend and foes acknowledge the great progresses of the country. A country [like Iran] that was previously in need of the foreigners to perform the current affairs of a city, today we are witnessing that the great global equations cannot be solved without Iran presence”.
In elaborating the high effect of art on the individual and social life of the people, Ayatullah Mesbah said: “One of the [positive] points of Islam is that the holy Quran is an artistic book which means one of the miracle aspects of Holy Quran is the beauty, clearness and rhetoric of it and for the people to use it forever, God has gave the book, an artistic aspect and attraction”.
Emphasizing that Muslims art background throughout the history is obvious and undeniable, he said: “The best works of art in Europe is the handmade of the Muslims”.
“An art provides the best services for the humans, and on the other hand, the art provides the worst harms [too] and the soft war is one of its examples” he clarified.
The outstanding Ayatullah then considered the deep and great effect of art in the life of mankind as a sensible feature of art and said: “Art is effective enough to the human life that sometimes a music composition or a movie scene can completely change the life of a man”.
“The western countries have completely used art for the worldly and brute purposes because of their materialistic orientations, and [anything] from philosophy of art to the most administrative techniques and tools of all arts like music, is in the hands of the west” the Ayatullah said, stating that good progresses have been made in different fields after the revolution [in Iran] but the progresses in art have not been eye-catching.
He mentioned that in the art, anything including, tools, knowledge, theory, and administrative skills are under the control of west and they are using it to achieve their own evil purposes and continued: “although there is still a little bit of religious and spirituality orientations in the west, but they rarely use art for their human purposes”.
The Ayatullah continued: “returning the art to its true path and human innate is a right work and needs strong motivation”.
“Art is a God-giving temperament and you can’t fight it. Art is a need but a peripheral one and when the physiological needs provided, its then time for art” he added, emphasizing that art needs a cultural action in order to enter the everyday life of the people.
Ayatullah Mesbah Yazdi, criticizing the extravagation and wastage in art stated: “Some people correlate a holiness to art in any means possible, even if it’s the lowest level of art work”.
Emphasizing that in the case of art, we should think of a long term plan, the head of the Imam Khomeini institute said: “Along that, we also should work on the short term plans as well. We haven’t yet had a correct plan to Islamize universities since 35 years ago. While from the very beginning of the revolution we were discussing the issue. And we have the same problem with art, or even more than this”.
“Those who have a nature that is correctly oriented to truth, justice and the transcendence, it will positively effect, otherwise he should act exhibitive” he said, stating that a “religious artist” can create a work of art.
