Rasa News Agency reports – Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed-Shabestari, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, led Eid al-Fitr prayers in Tabriz and gave a sermon on the occasion which marks the end of Ramadhan, the Islamic month of fasting.
In his Eid sermon, His Eminence condemned the Zionist regime for its wanton destruction in the Gaza Strip and said their great and historical crimes by one the great criminals of history are being white-washed. He emphasized that the international community, especially the International Criminal Court in The Hague, must condemn the crimes of the Zionist regime because this regime is infamous for its war crimes and must be brought to justice. “More than 1,200 Gazans have been martyred and more than 6,000 so far have been injured but the silence of the international organizations has been deadly. Meanwhile, the crimes of the Zionists are continuing unabatedly,” Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari emphasized.
His Eminence criticized the heads of some Arab governments for their obvious support of the Zionist regimes’ crimes in Gaza: “Unfortunately, many Arab governments are supporting and strengthening terrorist groups such as the ‘Islamic State’ and the occupying regime in Palestine, but have remained silent in the face of the crimes and atrocities against the people of Gaza!”
Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari noted that the massive participation in International al-Quds Day rallies throughout the world: “On the last Friday of Ramadhan, the Iranian people displayed their support for the Islamic Resistance and the people of Palestine in more than 700 cities throughout the country. Due to these popular demonstrations, the foreign media has been forced to admit that the Islamic Revolution is not limited to Iran alone, but rather it has created a global transformation!”
He emphasized that Iran’s Islamic Revolution was a historical turning point between right and wrong and added: “The effects of the Islamic Revolution have been manifested in different regions of the world. This year, there were pro-Palestinian demonstrations in more than 180 places in Europe [and in the United States], including New York and London. There have even been domestic protests against the war in Gaza in Tel Aviv.”
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari congratulated the believers on Eid al-Fitr and said: “The month of Ramadhan is the month of divine hospitality, mercy, worship and forgiveness. Its virtues and blessings have come to and end; the month when the recitation of one verse was equal to the recitation of the entire Quran, when breaths of a fasting believer were counted as praising God and Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Power) was greater than one thousand months of worship!”
Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari concluded his Eid sermon with a narration from the Prophet Muhammad (S): “The Messenger (S) said: ‘When someone completes thirty days of fasting, God protects him from the hellfire and permits him to pass over the bridge on the Day of Judgement with ease.’ How great are the blessed days of the month of Ramadhan in comparison to the other days of the year!”
