Rasa News Agency reports – The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom has issued a statement announcing their strong support of the fatwa (religious edict) of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Husayni-Sistani. It was signed by Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi.
The following is the text of the statement:
In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The review of recent developments in Iraq following the brutal attacks by Takfiri and Ba’athist groups under the command of the “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL),” implies that situation is under control by the government and the courageous people of Iraq.
It is clear that the success of the government and armed forces of Iraq in managing the crisis would not be possible without the support of the grand sources of emulation and the scholars.
The edict of jihad which has been issued by the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sistani (may God bless him), as well as other sources of emulation and scholars from the Ahl as-Sunnah, and the adherence of the courageous people of Iraq in answer to the call for jihad against the Takfiri terrorists, is the most important means to control the situation and manage the crisis in Iraq.
The adherence of the Islamic community to the grand sources of emulation and the scholars is the solution to the success of Muslim nations in their resistance to the conspiracies and sedition imposed on them. Once again, we have seen the success of this model in the control of the Iraqi crisis.
The Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom gives its full and unconditional support to the edict for jihad which has been issued by the grand sources of emulation, specifically by His Eminence, Ayatollah Sistani (may God bless him).
We express gratitude to the people for answering the call of the grand sources of emulation. We encourage the Iraqi nation, including Shi’ites, Sunnis and the courageous tribes to unite and adhere to the sources of emulation. The key to the power and victory of the Iraqi nation is in obedience and guardianship of the leaders of the religion.
It is hoped that the jihad in Iraq continues, and through it, the roots of the Takfirism and terrorism are dismantled forever from Iraq and the Holy Shrines are protected. God-Willing.
