Ayatollah Shabestari

Rasa News Agency - Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed-Shabestari, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, in the province of East Azerbaijan, said in his Friday prayer sermon in Tabriz: "the Takfiri terrorist group, "the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)," is led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who is from Samarra and lived in Pakistan, has been sponsored by foreign governments to carry out terrorist actions in the region."

Ayatollah Shabestari explained that ISIL is made up of some hypocrites who had escaped from Camp Ashraf and a few former Iraqi Ba'ath party members. "The Iraqi forces and some commanders should have foreseen the rise of ISIL. Now the terrorists are confronting the militias of the Iraqi nation."

His Eminence stressed that he believes the Iraqi militias will be able to destroy the Takfiri terrorists. He explained that he success of the elections in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq has provoked fear in the hearts of the Americans and the Zionists, and has provoked them to threaten these nations by sponsoring ISIL to commit terrorist acts. They are unaware that their provocation has united the Iraqi people."

Recalling the victory of Bashar al-Asad in the recent elections in Syria, Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq, and Abdullah Abdullah in Afghanistan, Ayatollah Shabestari said  that two million Iraqis have headed the call of Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani's recent fatwa (religious edict) and have joined together to send the Takfiri terrorists to their graves and to their eternal abode in the hellfire.

Ayatollah Shabestari said that the Iraqi people are ready to fight ISIL, alongside their government, in order to protect their holy shrines. The world has seen the true nature of these terrorists due to their inhumane actions. The world has also witnessed the reply of the Iraqi nation to the terrorism of ISIL and  its American sponsors.

He described the crimes, atrocities, murders and pillaging committed by ISIL in Iraq as a source of humiliation for Western human rights groups. Today, the lies emanating from the West regarding human rights issues has left no voice to defend the oppressed Iraqi nation from its oppressors.. The hypocritical Western human rights groups have remained silent because they have supported ISIL themselves.

ISIL has nothing to do with Islam; they shout "Allahu Akbar" when beheading "infidel" Shi'ites and any other person who dares to stand against them, even Sunnis! "The terrorists know that the people of [East] Azerbaijan would never hesitate to come to the defence of the people of Iraq and the holy shrines  there."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Shabestari congratulated the people on the occasion of Judiciary Week and honoured the 72 martyrs and Martyr Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti who were martyred on the 7th of Tir [a month in the Iranian calendar]. On June 28, 1981, a powerful bomb went off at the headquarters of the Iran Islamic Republic Party (IRP) in Tehran, while a meeting of party leaders was in progress. Seventy-three leading officials of the Islamic Republic were martyred, including Chief Justice Ayatollah Beheshti. This terrorist attack was aimed against the brand-new Islamic Republic of Iran. The hypocrites were unaware that the Islamic Revolution was built on the blood of its martyrs and that martyrdom is considered an honour in Islam.

Ayatollah Shabestari described the events of the 7th of Tir as symbol of the unjust oppression of the Iranian people by Western-backed terrorists. Now, those who shout slogans calling for freedom, democracy, and security, and fighting terrorists, are themselves supporting the most dangerous terrorists in the world and are the main causes of insecurity in the world.
