Rasa News Agency reports – On the 25th anniversary of the sad demise of Imam Khomeini, thousands of Iranians from throughout the country travelled to his mausoleum south of the Iranian capital of Tehran. The emotional people were filled with the love and memories of their beloved leader.

Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of Islamic Revolution of Iran, passed away on June 4, 1989. He is known as “Imam” (Leader) to his supporters. He founded the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979 with the massive support of the Iranian people. A large number of people and officials annually gather at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum for a commemoration ceremony. Millions of Iranians from around the country travel, some on foot, to pay tribute to the late architect of the Islamic Revolution.

This year, the revolutionary Iranian people, with their large presence on the anniversary of the demise of the great leader of the Islamic Revolution, showed the world a unique manifestation of love by displaying their everlasting commitment to the Imam and his lofty ideals. In a world where the West continuously attempts to give the impression that Iranians are against the glorious Islamic Revolution, Iranians of all backgrounds showed their continuing support of the system of Wilayat al-Faqih (The Guardianship of the Jurisprudent). They also renewed their covenant of support to Imam Khomeini’s successor, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

At the ceremony, Imam’s grandson, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Hasan Khomeini, spoke in regards to the most important and valuable points of Imam’s grand and unique personality, the Islamic Revolution, and explained his views on internal and global events. Hujjat al-Islam Khomeini, who is the Reverend Custodian of Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum, delivers a speech during the ceremony every year. At the ceremony, many Iranian and foreign dignitaries, military figures, foreign guests and different groups of people were present.

Besides the grand ceremony at Imam’s mausoleum in Tehran, other ceremonies were held throughout Iran. Last night, a ceremony was held at Masjid al-A’dham (Grand Mosque) in the holy city of Qom which was attended by many sources of emulation, scholars and other religious figures.

At this ceremony, Ayatollah Reza Ostadi, the secretary of Association of Qom Seminary Teachers, spoke of the causes of the Islamic Revolution. “The life of Imam [Khomeini] is manifested and crystallized in the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei],” he stated.
