Mourning for 40 days after the death of a Muslim is an Islamic religious tradition as shown by the religious tradition of mourning for 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, which concludes with Arba’in. On the 40th day after the death of their loved ones, Muslims gather to remember their loved ones’ life and pray for their souls.

At the commemoration, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Khatami, the representative of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and the Friday prayer leader of Zanjan praised the services and sincere efforts of Ayatollah Malakouti in both his academic and revolutionary endeavours. Ayatollah Malakouti spent his life on the path of Islam and was a strong supporter of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Islamic Revolution, and also supported Ayatollah Khamenei. His Eminence was born on August 13, 1923 in Sarab, East Azerbaijan province, Iran and passed away on April 25th, 2014.
