Rasa News Agency - On the birth anniversary of Hadhrat Abul-Fadhl al-Abbas, the brother of Imam al-Husayn and the flag-bearer of the Islamic army during the Battle of Karbala, and on the occasion of Disabled War Veterans Day in Iran, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, visited with several veterans of the Imposed War (Iran-Iraq War) at their homes in Tehran. He told them that he honoured their courage, patience and perseverance against the enemies of Islam.
Disabled War Veterans Day is a fitting tribute to those who lost their limbs and lives in the service of the Islamic Revolution during the 8-year-long holy defence of their homeland in the face of the war imposed by the US through its agent, Saddam at-Tikriti.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad-Ali Shahidi-Mahallati, the Director of the Martyrs Foundation and Veterans Affairs, along with Hujjat al-Islam Reza Taghavi, Hujjat al-Islam Mohsen Qomi and Haj Ali Akbari, the representatives of the Supreme Leader, also participated in the meetings with veterans. They spoke with the veterans and learned about their living conditions, health, work and the problems of those who fought in complete self-sacrifice and dedication to the Islamic Revolution in the War of Holy Defence.
Various representatives of the Supreme Leader in the provincial capitals along with Friday Prayer leaders across the country also visited the homes of their local veterans, where they thanked them for their great sacrifices and efforts to keep the memory of the martyrs alive.
