Rasa News Agency - Today, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani met with a group of young people at a cultural centre for youth in Tehran and emphasized the need to move in the right direction. “We have [Quranic] verses and traditions which show man the right way to live contentedly,” His Eminence said.
He advised the youth to read and meditate on the meanings of the Holy Quran. He also recommended the youth to learn from Imam Ali’s Nahj al-Balaghah (The Peak of Eloquence), and Imam as-Sajjad’s Sahifat as-Sajjadiyah (The Psalms of Islam). “Mankind must live by the commands of the Quran to reach happiness in this world and hereafter,” he explained.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that Iranian youth should be models for the youth of the world by reading and making use of the Quran. “Quran should be an important part of our lives so much that their everyday speech becomes derived from the Quran.”
His Eminence explained that God accepts His servants’ sincere repentance, saying: “Man sometimes makes mistakes in his life, but he should know that after he sins, the doors of repentance are always open and God loves His servants who repent sincerely.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani pointed to narrations which emphasize that man should realize where he came from and where he is going on his path in life. “Man must know his aim in life and the status of the Islamic Revolution so that he can continue on this path,” His Eminence stated.
He explained that “real” Islam is not the Islam of the United States or Europe, but “our only goal is a [worldwide] Islamic revolution and we should know that our revolution was a divine blessing and everything that we have now is due to the blood of the martyrs, and we must appreciate what they have done for us.”
Muslims need to know what “pure” Islam is, so that we can introduce it to others. “By following the path of Imam Khomeini and the martyrs, our youth will be guided to the right path. The path of Islam shows us right from wrong and when the youth pay attention to the teachings of Islam, they can be proper models for the entire world.”
