Rasa News Agency reports - Ayatollah Habibollah Mehmannavaz, a representative in the Assembly of Experts, has met with members of an organization dedicated to celebrating the Liberation of Khorramshahr in the city of Bojnourd, in the north-eastern Iranian province of North Khorasan. His Eminence offered his congratulations on the joyous occasion of the third day of the Iranian month of Khordad (May 24).

The 3rd of Khordad celebrates the anniversary of the day of victory and faith over the unbelievers – the day when the port city of Khorramshahr was liberated on May 24, 1982 from 578 days of Ba’thist occupation during the epic “Operation Bayt al-Moqaddas.” This operation turned the tide of the eight-year war imposed by the United States and its allies on the nascent Islamic Republic of Iran through their proxy Saddam at-Tikriti.

Ayatollah Mehmannavaz pointed to the courage and sacrifices of the Muslim holy warriors during the prideful Operation Bayt al-Moqaddas: “The Liberation of Khorramshahr is an epic symbol of patience and fortitude, when our armed forces valiantly overcame our nation’s enemies. [This success was because we were] under the shadow of the sacred system of the Islamic religious leadership.”

He stressed the heroism of the holy warriors of Islam during the eight-year war to the new generation of youth who grew up during a time of peace and did not experience the sacrifices made by the previous generations: “We must introduce the values and ideals of the Sacred Defence [Iran-Iraq War] to the new generation of youth and adolescents so that they can also join the resistance against the ongoing cultural and economic invasion by the enemies as the holy warriors did during the Sacred Defence era.”

Ayatollah Mehmannavaz explained: “The Armed Forces have always been supportive of the holy system of the Islamic Republic and they have proven their allegiance in different arenas and fields of guardianship and religion.”

His Eminence explained that trusting in and obeying the late Imam Khomeini and the current Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, will lead to the success of the Islamic Republic against the arrogant powers in many fields.

Ayatollah Mehmannavaz stated that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic have reached the peak of excellence, honour and esteem in their services to the nation. He hopes that the armed forces understand the value of their position and that they always be alert and ready to defend the religion of Islam.

He explained that since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution until today, the enemies of the Islamic Republic have been continuously and constantly attacking the nation of Iran. “Due to the grace of God and the efforts of the armed forces and the fortitude of the people, the enemies have not been successful in their attempts to destroy the Islamic Republic,” he explained.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Mehmannavaz referred to the upcoming anniversary of the beginning of the mission of the Prophet Muhammad (Bi’thah, celebrated on Rajab 27th) and offered his congratulations on this joyous occasion. He explained that the issue of Bi’thah and the mission of the Prophet Muhammad ere considered the most fundamental issues of Islam. “All prophets were sent to bring mankind closer to God and also to bring mankind closer to each other. The Seal of the Prophets [Prophet Muhammad] was divinely chosen to complete the mission of the previous prophets.”

His Eminence stated that the mission to promote Islamic teachings and spreading the religion of God on earth is still ongoing: “In this arena [of propagating Islam], clerics and missionaries, the pioneers of our faith, have a heavier duty than most other people.”
