Ayatollah Nouri Hamedani

Rasa News Agency reports - Today, in his jurisprudence class at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-A'dham) in the Holy City of Qom, Ayatollah Hosein Nouri-Hamadani, a leading source of emulation, emphasized that someone who God has given wisdom, has also been [divinely] endowed with great goodness.

The late Allamah Sayyed Mohammad-Hosein Tabatabai has described wisdom as meaning a collection of religious values, moral, doctrinal and practical values. His Eminence explained that the personal and social life of man must be based on these principles.

Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani reminded his students about the prophetic ahadith (traditions) about wisdom, saying "every house that is void of wisdom and values, is nothing more than ruined."

He explained the relationship between knowledge and wisdom, saying "wisdom illuminates the heart of man." Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani stated that knowing these principles does not make a man wise, thus man must have the tendency in his heart to act on his wisdom.

Allamah Tabatabai said that there is a distinctive difference between faith and knowledge: "Faith is a type of tendency of the heart combined with knowledge."

"Some say that drinking wine [in moderation] is healthy but understand the [health] risks, and yet they still drink it. This type of person has knowledge, but does not have faith and belief. Wisdom has the same meaning," Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani explained.

His Eminence continued his remarks by stating that Islam is the perfect religion: "The religion [of Islam] has paid special attention to the perfection and excellence of man and has determined the correct path to the perfection of man. Every human being is in pursuit of perfection and happiness and in order to attain it, he should act upon religious teachings."
