Rasa News Agency reports - The third in a series of lectures about comparative history has been delivered by Hujjat al-Islam Mahdi Taeb at Madrassah Fayzieh in the holy city of Qom.

He has discussed many interesting topics and commonly asked questions about a myriad of topics. These have included, the divine message and teachings of the opening verses of Surat al-Baqarah and the story of Prophet Adam (A) and its meanings. In the story of Prophet Adam (A), Hujjat al-Islam Taeb discussed the reasons for why some of the angels and jinns protested to God about why they should bow down to Prophet Adam (A). He also discussed the knowledge or lack of knowledge about angels in relation to humankind. His Eminence’s lectures are important as they answer many questions and remove doubts that ordinary Muslims have about the Islamic belief system.

Hujjat al-Islam Taeb also commented some of the doubts of non-Muslims in regard to the reliability of the Quran and the traditions of the Ahlul-Bayt (A). He explained that these are the only definative sources available for information on Islamic history. Muslims have no doubts in regard to the reliability of the Quran because God has promised to protect the Quran, but with traditions we must display precaution when using them in research or as a method of Islamic propagation. These traditions are used to spread the message of Islam by preachers on the pulpits and preachers must be able to answer questions about the subject that they are preaching. Using unproven traditions can be detrimental when guiding society through preaching.

He said that it is wrong to narrate any historical tradition or event without taking into consideration its chain of narrators as a testament to its reliability. He warned that we cannot consider a person a scholar if they do not research a historical tradition or event.
