Rasa News Agency reports - Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi, a member of the Society of Qom Seminary Teachers, has referred to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] remarks that the ongoing nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 group of countries should not be tied to the Iran’s need to have the economic sanctions removed but rather to assert its authority.
“Tying economic issues to the negotiations causes excesses by the enemies,” His Eminence said in reference to the attempts by certain Western powers to trample on Iran’s dignity by imposing harsh sanctions which cause much hardship for Iran’s citizens but will never stop the Islamic Republic of Iran’s mission.
Ayatollah Ka’bi emphasized that must Iran stand up against the excesses of hegemonic powers and imperialistic countries: “If diplomacy is the way to get around the issue of sanctions or other internal problems, it is not useful to prevent the excesses of the enemies. It makes them think that Iran is negotiating from a position of weakness. We need to show that we’re negotiating from a position of authority with the P5+1.”
He stated that progress, development and prosperity in the face of the harsh sanctions shows the strength of the Iranian nation and the Islamic system of governance. Iran fought against the whole world as they tried to crush the nascent Islamic Revolution, led by Iraq’s then-dictator Saddam at-Tikriti, during the eight-year Imposed War [Iran-Iraq War]. However, Iran stood firm against its enemies and defended itself and showed the world its power of deterrence.
“By continuing our culture and spirit of jihad against the enemies, we can strengthen our economic production and trade on the path of economic resistance and find prosperity,” Ayatollah Ka’bi explained.
“Those who think the path to prosperity is that of diplomacy are misguided because the enemies of the Iranian nation will never allow the Iranian nation to progress, nor will they help us. They are always plotting against us in order to defeat the Iranian nation to stop our mission, although they have failed to defeat us on all fronts,” he emphasized.
Ayatollah Ka’bi emphasized that negotiations should be based on “dignity, wisdom, expediency, and the red lines of Islamic system, in order to protect our country. This form of [resistance] diplomacy will always be the viewpoint of our nation in the international area.”
“One area that we must pursue is national commitment to jihadi management and dignified diplomacy. This issue is supported by both the Islamic system and individual citizens,” His Eminence concluded.
