Rasa News Agency reports - Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani has had a meeting with members of the Central Council of the Islamic Society of Engineers, where he congratulated the members on the auspicious birth anniversary of Lady Fatimah az-Zahra (A), the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (S). “I hope all present give their full attention to Imam al-Mahdi (AJ) and work to serve to Islam and the Islamic society in order to stay on the correct path,” he said.
“There is very important and a great responsibility upon you to make the Islamic Society of Engineers more Islamic. All praise be to God, you have called your organization an ‘Islamic Society of Engineers,’ but it must live up to its name. It is expected of you to express the religion of Islam in your daily lives. For example, by wearing proper hijab and avoid using disrespectful words. Also, everyone must specify a private time for himself to speak to God,” he advised.
Ayatollah Safi wished all those present success in all of their actions and said: “If our original purpose in all our works is for the sake of God, He will help us. You have seen that in these past few years that our Islamic Revolution has faced many problems but they have been successfully solved, all praise belongs to God. Our revolution continues on its [correct] path. All these problems we faced were not in vain as they have been important lessons for us.”
The grand “source of imitation” pointed to the cultural and economic concerns of the people of Iran: “The people of Iran are good people and there are few nations with people like ours. You must know the value of our people and take into consideration the people’s concerns in regards to the cultural and economic issues that they face so that you can help their living conditions to improve and solve their problems. We are never disappointed. God-willing, we can be successful as we were in the past.”
Ayatollah Safi explained the religious concept of “enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong” by saying that it is a obligatory command of God which is necessary to redeem society. “That action which leads to the satisfaction of God is when man confirms his religious principles and enjoins the good and forbids the wrong. This issue is very important, especially for your organization. God has said in the Holy Quran: ‘There has to be a nation among you summoning to the good, bidding what is right, and forbidding what is wrong. It is they who are the felicitous’ [3:104].”
