Rasa News Agency reports - Ayatollah Sayyed Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi, a member of the Assembly of Experts, met with commanders and officials from the police forces of the province of Qom. He thanked the police forces for their dedication to their work and said that society is indebted to them.
“The internal security of our country is unique in the world and the peace and security that we have is due to the efforts of our police,” he said.
Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi described Iran as one of the superpowers of the region and added: “the reason that Iran is blossoming and has become a strong country is because of the wise guardianship and leadership of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] and the servants of the Islamic Revolution.”
“The enemies of the progress and the achievements in science and technology by Iranians are attempting to create fear and scepticism with false advertising and attacking the internal unity and progress of the country,” he said by pointing to the plots by enemies of Islam and the Islamic Revolution, not only in Iran, but throughout the Muslim world.
Coordination between the three branches of government will ensure the optimum performance of all tasks and will strengthen the government and the Islamic Revolution. “By making use of all affairs with greater insight, the Islamic Revolution will continue to grow and thrive,” Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi mentioned.
Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi pointed some of the problems of society by stating: “The usage of narcotics is one of the largest problems which plague this country and it is the cause of the loss of the human and financial capital.”
“Justice and law enforcement measures alone are not sufficient to control drugs, but all institutions must do their duties in dealing with this problem,” he remarked in regards to the fight against narcotics in Iran.
Ayatollah Hashemi-Shahroudi encouraged the police to take advantage of the experiences of other successful countries in tackling the problem of narcotics. “Some have found great success in their research on the issue of narcotics and it is necessary for us to make use of these studies and implement their strategies in our own context.”
