Rasa News Agency reports - The directors and administrators of the Martyrs Foundation of the Province of Qom met with Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani today at his office.
“During the eight years of the Holy Defence (Iran-Iraq War), the martyrs and mujahids (strivers) sacrificed their lives to protect Islam and Islamic values and offered their limbs on this great path [jihad] and they will receive a great reward [in heaven]. Martyrs have a great status in the history of Islam and are the glory of Islam as they have protected our religion,” Ayatollah Safi remarked on the occasion of Mothers’ Day, which in Iran is in tribute and honour to the mothers and wives of martyrs.
This day is also the death anniversary of Lady Umm al-Banin (S), whose four sons gave their lives for Islam during the Battle of Karbala alongside their step-brother, Imam Husayn (A). Thus, Ayatollah Safi reminded his guests that Umm al-Banin (S) is an excellent example for Muslim women. Women in various fields should follow her example by giving importance to the hijab, modesty, and chastity for the betterment of the Islamic society. By promoting hijab in an Islamic society, Iran can also become a role model for other Islamic countries.
He also reminded those present to never forget the role the martyrs play in society and to keep the culture of martyrdom and spirit of sacrifice alive for those in the future.
Ayatollah Safi told those present that they are the servants of the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom and that they would be rewarded by God for their valuable service to the nation, which he described as “incomparable to any other service.”
