Makarem-Shirazi speaks to members of the Council of the Provinces

Rasa News Agency reports - Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi in a meeting with members of the Supreme Council of the Provinces this morning, stated that the council members are working for a key Islamic Republic of Iran program.

“I hope you will have a year full of goodness and blessings and that you will be under the grace of God and Imam al-Mahdi (AJ) while in the service of the people and the system [Islamic Republic],” he prayed.

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi quoted a narration from Imam Ali (A) about the importance of piety: “The righteous are those who believe in God and see every but God as small [unimportant].” He described Imam Ali (A) as the embodiment of righteousness because he took nothing for himself during his reign as the caliph of the Islamic state and only worked for the people.

He explained that the method of saving our souls from the pollution of sins is to know God. “If these explanations have no effect on us than we have certainly sinned by belittling everything but God,” Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi warned.

He explained that the work of the council members is to solve the people’s problems and to elevate the name of the Islamic Republic in the world.

“In this era, when our enemies are seeking the slightest weakness to take advantage of, it is proof that your work is critically important,” he explained to the council members in regards to the importance of propagating the greatness of the Islamic Republic.

“All classes of people were present during our latest election, and no Iranian citizen protested the election results, but they [Western governments] still do not accept the Iranian elections, but this is certainly a lie.”

Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said that no elections have been held in Europe and the United States with the quality of those in Iran and said: “If our election was completely legal, they still say that ‘if a mistake occurs, how can we proceed?’ Because of their actions, everyone must be careful,” he said.

“When performing your duties and serving the people, the intention is a important issue and all actions must be performed only for the sake of satisfying God. If all are not equal before you, you have committed oppression against them and have supported the enemy. If you work truthfully and for in the service of God, you will be rewarded in the hereafter,” Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi stated.
