Rasa News Agency reports - Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sadat-Ebrahimi, the representative for the cities of Shustar and Gotvand in Khuzestan province in the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, spoke in regards to the meeting of Catherine Ashton, the high representative for foreign affairs and security policy for the European Union, with those involved in the post-2009 Iranian presidential sedition during her recent trip to Iran. “This action by officials of the European Union was an insult [to us]] and thus a provocation to the stipulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he stated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is claiming that they did not have any prior information regarding the EU officials’ plans. “The parliament recommends that a more active approach be taken in regard to such issues so that such uncertainties which result in such actions [by foreign politicians] do not reoccur in the future.”
Hujjat al-Islam Sadat-Ebrahimi stated that the meeting of European officials with those convicted of sedition was never sanctioned by the parliament. The parliament should have been aware of the plans of European officials to meet with the seditionists so that they could have prevented it,” he said.
He said that that the action by Ms Ashton was in contradiction to international principles. “Ms Ashton has claimed that she is seeking to solve international issues, thus she should not violate international rules and regulations!” he remarked.
