Rasa News Agency reports - “All US forces in the [Middle East] region are in the military dragnet of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and should the Americans make a mistake, the region will turn into hell for them,” Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri said on Tuesday.

“Unintelligent US President [Barack Obama] and the country’s Secretary of State John Kerry speak of the impact on Iran of the US ‘options on the table’ at a time when this phrase has turned into the laughing stock of the Iranian people, particularly children,” he added.

In an interview with Bloomberg news network on Monday, Obama commented on his repeated “all options on the table” threat, which alludes to the possibility of US military action against Iran, and said, “I know they take it seriously.”

He said he was confident that Iran will take his statements seriously “when they look at 35,000 US military personnel in the region that are engaged in constant training exercises.”

The Iranian commander downplayed the US president’s remarks about the number of the US forces in the region, saying the comments are “far from reality and can be considered the joke of the year.”

He called on the American people to think about the remarks made by the country’s statesmen and said the “falsity of many of their comments will be proved.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said on February 19 that the language of force has no place in foreign policy agendas, adding that any state using the “all-options-on-the-table” rhetoric is actually taking about outdated measures.
