Rasa – The Turkish Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran met with Grand Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi in the holy city of Qom this week.

Rasa News Agency Reports – Ümit Yardım, the Turkish Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, met and spoke with Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi on Tuesday evening in the holy city of Qom.


Yardım and Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi, one of the leading sources of emulation in the Seminary of Qom, spoke about the relationship between the two countries and described them as friendly, neighbourly nations who have a similar culture and a deep-rooted bond which has existed from ancient times.


Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi pointed out that some of the differences between Iran and Turkey can be resolved through dialogue and negotiation.


Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi lamented the continuing conflicts in some Islamic countries, and called upon the Muslim community to protect the unity and brotherhood of all religions.
 

“Now, the enemies are sitting in a corner creating mischief and are putting Muslims’ lives in danger. This is worrisome and lamentable. We think that Muslim should shake hands with each other and there is no reason for wars in Muslim countries and if there is a problem [between any group], it can be solved by negotiation,” Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi stated.
 

The Turkish ambassador stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is an influential county in the Middle East and emphasized the need to expand bilateral relations between the two nations.


“Iran is a friendly and brotherly country to Turkey and we are also with you and the government officials, and we respect the people of Iran and we are willing to expand relations,” Ambassador Yardım added.
