RNA – Ayatollah Abbas Tabrizian, a jurisprudent specializing in Islamic traditional medicine, said: “Modern day health problems and new diseases are caused by wrong lifestyles; these news illnesses that are growing everyday are a result of ignoring Islamic lifestyles. Psychological disorders as well as physical health problems prove once again that people are forgetting the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt and Islamic principles.”
Speaking at a conference entitled, “The Role of Islamic Medicine in Promoting Islamic Teachings,” at al-Mustafa International University’s Imam Khomeini Specialized University campus on Tuesday, Ayatollah Tabrizian stressed the importance of medical science and said: “After the Industrial Revolution in Europe, the world became influenced by Western lifestyle and they gradually forgot about their own methods.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary added: “If we internalize true Islamic lifestyle among the world’s nations, people would never need medical treatment and they would never go to doctor’s offices. There are valuable treasures in Islamic narrations which can help us cure any disease.”
He then reiterated the vital role of Islamic medicine in the lifestyle of the Ahlul-Bayt and in Islamic narrations (hadith) and further said: “There are as many as 11,000 narrations regarding Islamic medicine, these narrations are brought to us by efforts of Ahlul-Bayt, narrators as well as Islamic clerics.”
