According to the report, clashes broke out between the Palestinian worshippers and Israeli troops on Wednesday after the Israeli forces attempted to prevent the Palestinians, including women and children, from entering the mosque.
Eyewitnesses said the Israeli forces, who tried to arrest the worshippers when the clashes began, also used tear gas to disperse the worshippers.
No one was injured during the clashes.
Last week, clashes also erupted between the Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters outside the Al-Aqsa compound.
Israeli officials said the incident happened after about 300 demonstrators tried to block a group of visitors from reaching the sensitive compound revered by both the Jews and Muslims.
The Al-Aqsa compound lies in al-Quds’ Old City.
In a separate incident on the same day, the Israeli forces also shot and injured a Palestinian in the Gaza Strip.
The Israel regime imposed a land, aerial, and naval blockade on the Gaza Strip in June 2007.
The blockade has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the impoverished enclave, having turned the territory into the world’s largest open-air prison.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator James W. Rawley said on April 10 that a new round of Israeli restrictions on the Gaza Strip is impacting food supplies and would have “serious” effects if continued.
