RNA – Speaking at a academic conference entitled “Pure Life” at the Islamic Research Foundation of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Ridha in Mashhad, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami referred to the recent remarks made by the Supreme Leader where he said that “Until the United States considers us as humans, we will not establish relations with them,” and added: “From his perspective, the Americans have never wanted relations with our country as an independent state but seek domination and they will always have an arrogant spirit.”

The member of the Executive Board of the Assembly of Experts said that the US is trying to impose its power on Iran and treats this world like its own village and considers itself as the village chief. “Thus, we must break their horns with our power and with the weapons of the Islamic Resistance,” he said.

Ayatollah Khatami added that some people think that if sanctions are lifted, Iran will become a paradise and those who magnify the issue of sanctions have created confusion in the people’s minds that our country has become exhausted and faces big problems. They have made a big mistake because “from the beginning of the Islamic Revolution until recently, Iran has been flourished despite the sanctions.”

His Eminence said that the Islamic government should never trust the enemies because they are willing to do anything to achieve their evil goals. “A theocratic and revolutionary government believes that the occupying Zionist regime has no legitimacy,” he added.

Ayatollah Khatami added that Iran’s defense system is a deterrent although we have a very powerful defence system but it is not for aggressive purposes and does not exceed that of other countries.
