Rasa – Lebanon’s Sunni and Shi’a Muslim scholars stressed the need for vigilance against the enemies’ plots against Islamic countries and strongly warned against the West’s plan to divide Syria under the pretext of establishing a federal system.

RNA – During its weekly meeting, the Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon issued a statement in regard the recent issues facing Lebanon and the Islamic world. They also issued a warning against the Western plan to divide Arab countries, particularly Syria as major Western powers and Russia have discussed a federal division of Syria as a possible option to end five years of foreign-backed militancy in the Arab state, according to UN diplomats.

The statement warned about the division of Syria in the name of federalism, saying that this issue will not provide any solution to the problems facing the war-torn Arab country but rather it will lead to the victory of the Zionist project “which since the beginning of Arab Spring has sought to divide the Islamic world.”

The Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon stressed that given the current situation in the Arab and Muslim world, it is necessary to be vigilant in regard to the dangerous plots which are done in the dark against the Islamic community. “The right of self-determination and the future of Syria is the right of the people of that country and any attempt to seize that right is doomed to failure,” they said.

Lebanon’s Shi’a and Sunni scholars referred to the branding of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization by the Arab League and Gulf Cooperation Council, saying: “The Zionists were the first to appreciate this action and praised the naming of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. This shows that Israel is the only beneficiary of this issue as they seek to weaken the Islamic Resistance.”

They stated that an increase in resistance operations is the right of the Palestinians and urged the Palestinian people to continue their patience and resistance until the unified army of the Islamic world moves toward the liberation of the occupied territories. “The defence of Palestine is considered a religious, ethnic and moral duty,” the statement read.
