RNA – Speaking during a meeting with students and teachers at Ahvaz’s al-Ghadir Seminary, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami stressed that one of the reasons why the US has launched its recent row against Iran was over the excuse of its recent missile tests.

He added that the JCPOA does not prohibit Iran from missile tests and warned it is possible that the US may raise issues that were not required for Iran in the agreement at the United Nations Security Council.

He said that Iran’s enemies have problems with the country’s Islamic system of government and have called for its complete destruction, “so even if the issue of the missile tests issue is resolved, they will raise the excuse of human rights violations to renew their sanctions on Iran.”

Ayatollah Khatami said that prior to Iran’s February 26th elections, the United Kingdom had announced a list of candidates whom it called on the Iranian people to not vote for, including Ayatollahs Ahmad Jannati, Mohammad Yazdi, Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi, Sayyed Ahmad Alamolhoda, Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, Mohsen Mojtahed-Shabestari, Sayyed Mahmoud Hashemi-Shahroudi and himself but of these candidates, only two members [Mesbah-Yazdi and Yazdi] were not elected but nevertheless, “they achieved high votes compared to their other competitors.”

The member of the Assembly of Experts stressed that the Iranian people did not trust the foreign media’s lies and fortunately, the American and British plots against the elections plots failed which is shown by the success of the elections.

His Eminence said that Iran has not had good experiences with Western countries and what has happened in the past was only on paper and nothing in practice and thus, had no result.
