Rasa – An Egyptian Shi’a scholar referred to the affection of Christians towards Ahlul-Bayt, household of Prophet Muhammad, stressing importance of proximity for increasing the power of Islam.
Proximity reinforces Islam

RNA – In an interview with Iran’s Hawzah News Agency, Sayyid Tahir al-Hashemi, a prominent Egyptian Shi’a scholar, stressed upon the necessity of solidarity and unity among Muslims, saying that this can only be achieved when the various Islamic denominations recognize their commonalities and approach each other based on these commonalities.

He referred to the different issues of the Shi’a community as a minority in Egypt, stressing the need for greater solidarity among its members and advancing unity with other denominations or religious groups.

Having held several interfaith conferences with other Egyptian groups, the member of Ahlul-Bayt World Assembly expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of these meetings, noting that followers of other Islamic denominations also agree with the necessity of greater solidarity among Muslims as it will lead to the empowerment of Islam and contribute to the resistance against the arrogant powers of the world and the Zionist entity.

“When the commonalities of all Islamic denominations are known to all, then their followers will approach each other and unite in a joint front,” he said, adding, “This proximity will certainly lead to the empowerment of Islam and Muslims.”

The Egyptian scholar also touched upon the critical situation in Iraq and Syria noting, “We are witnesses to the sedition in these war-torn countries when the enemies are struggling to portray Islam as a religion of violence, bloodshed and beheading of people and Muslims as merciless rebels.”

Sayyid al-Hashemi also referred to the affection of the Egyptian people for Ahlul-Bayt saying that even the Christian community in the country extend their respect and love for Imam Husayn, the third Shi’a Imam.
