RNA – Speaking at a meeting on the capabilities of the Islamic Revolution in Europe and North America, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Reza Ramezani-Gilani, the imam of the Islamic Centre of the German city of Hamburg, stated that due to fear of Islam, the West seeks to suppress people from getting to know Islam and added: "This is while Christianity hasn’t been able to answer the concerns and questions of the current generation in regard to spirituality and rationality because they have separated religion from politics."
The renowned cleric said that in the West, they’ve created both correct and false desires in society and this has led the youth astray. “Thus, unfortunately many wrong things can be considered as correct. For example, today 24 countries have legalized or recognized same-sex marriage,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Ramezani said that one of the greatest problems among the Western youth is their lack of a sense of morality, adding that those few who accept religion have accepted the secularization of religion in society.
“In the West, the entire system of education from kindergarten until high school, is completely atheist and secular. This is why the youth suffer from a lack of identity,” he explained, adding that in Germany, there are more than 30 million people who consider themselves as atheists.
His Eminence added that since the gravitation toward Islam in the West began in earnest, Westerners have been seeking to promote a form of Islam which doesn’t create problems for them, saying: “In reality, they want Islam to be compatible with Western culture. That said, they want those who follow such a form of Islam to call themselves Muslims, but to abandon certain verses of the Quran or not to adhere to some rules.”
The president of the Union of European Scholars said that due to the actions of Wahhabis and Takfiris, the word “jihad” is seen in a harsh and violent light in the West in recent years. “This is while, in reality, jihad is defined as resistance against the arrogant powers,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Ramezani added that in the West, Islam is either introduced in a liberal and secular form or in an extremist form and that Wahhabis and Takfiris promote an extremist and anti-Shi’a form of Islam which is threat to all humanity. “Today, this harsh and dangerous form of Islam which is against true Islam, which is merciful in reality, is found in Syria and even in European countries,” he said.
