RNA – Speaking during a meeting with members of an election committee, Ayatollah Mohammad-Javad Fazel-Lankarani referred to Iran’s upcoming parliamentary elections saying the elections are the “trump card” of the Islamic Republic of Iran. For this reason, the authorities should carefully consider the approval or disapproval of individuals carry out their duties within the law.
Ayatollah Fazel-Lankarani stated that the people should vote with awareness and choose compassionate representatives who observe Islamic religious commandments and support the Islamic Revolution since all elections held in the Islamic Republic of Iran are tied to the honour and integrity of Iran’s Islamic system of government.
His Eminence explained that there is political prestige in all the world’s political systems and this is natural but in Iran, this religious and divine system which we have established is a matter of importance for the people. This means that participation in the elections demonstrates the people’s renewed support for the Islamic system.
Fazel stressed that this increases the duties of the election officials. They must plan better and with intelligence to manage the elections and they must avoid partisan intentions. Also, election officials should take God Almighty and the law as their criteria and refrain from any sort of criminal actions.
Ayatollah Fazel-Lankarani said that the enemies are waiting and preparing for the elections and emphasized that the widespread participation of the Iranian people will defeat their objectives and frustrate their efforts to interfere in the country’s affairs.
The head of the Jurisprudence Centre of the Pure Imams added that the realization of the demands of the revolution requires the presence of various preferences and different ideas within the Islamic system.
