RNA – Speaking at a seminar entitled “Imam Khomeini (RA), Global Changes; threats and mechanisms,” Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, the Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought noted the challenges facing the Islamic world, stressing, “Civil wars, dissension, and showdown among groups and denominations are of main afflictions in Islamic society.”

“The triumph of the Iranian Islamic Revolution led by the late Imam Ruhollah Khomeini and the guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, have dashed the hope of the enemies of Islam to destroy the Islamic society,” he said.

According to Ayatollah Araki, the victory of Islamic Revolution inspired Muslims to make a move and take steps in advancing Islamic movements, both in the east and west of the world of Islam against tyrannical regimes.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought referred to the enemies’ efforts to destroy Muslims through targeting Muslims’ identity.

For countering the schemes created by enemies, Ayatollah Araki urged Muslims to preserve their unity and solidarity and called on Muslims from different Islamic denominations and sects not to stress on minute differences.

According to the Iranian scholar, preserving unity among Muslims provides them with the means to advance and make inroads in various areas. According to this, only through solidarity and unity, Muslims can overtake their enemies.

The conference on “Imam Khomeini, Global Changes; Threats and Mechanisms” was held in holy city of Qom on Wednesday, 27th of January. The event is held annually near the 10 Day Dawn celebrations

On the twelfth of Bahman in Iranian calendar or January the 31st, the first day of the festivities, millions of Iranians celebrate the return of the late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution to Iran from exile.

Back in 1979, some 140 international reporters accompanied Imam Khomeini on a chartered flight from Paris. When the plane entered Iranian airspace, a joyous crowd of up to six million people rushed to the streets of the capital to welcome their leader.

Imam Khomeini was named Man of the Year in 1979 by American newsmagazine TIME for his international influence and has been described as the virtual face of Islam in Western popular culture. After more than three decades, his thoughts and beliefs continue to inspire millions of Muslims across the globe.
