Iraqi Sunni Cleric:
Rasa – A member of Iraqi Scholars’ Society stressed upon the importance of holding the Islamic Unity Conference.
Muslims’ disagreements help the arrogant powers

RNA – Speaking on the sidelines of the 29th edition of the Islamic Unity Conference recently hosted in the Iranian capital city of Tehran Adnan, Abdurrahman Abdurrazaq al-Ani, a member of the Iraqi Scholars’ Society, stressed on the great importance of holding such gatherings, saying they highlight the pivotal role of the clergy with this connection.

The Sunni cleric quoted the Holy Quran, saying: “Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided,” and underscored, “In regard to this verse, Muslim clerics have gathered together so as to put aside their unresolved disagreements and take efficient steps to create rapprochement among religious denominations.”

“The clergy should know the main priorities of jurisprudence so as to find what breeds confrontation and conflict among nations,” al-Ani said.

The religious cleric explained the positive points of this notion, adding that through such an avenue Muslims might again form a united ummah, as God Almighty stressed upon in His holy book.

“Muslims from different Islamic denominations and sects should have no bias and prejudice toward other religions,” said the member of Iraq Scholars’ Society, criticizing those who excommunicate people whose views run counter to theirs.

Referring to the positive effects of holding the Islamic Unity Conference, the religious scholar underlined, “The event lays the path for Muslims to discuss various issues and come back to the right path.”

al-Ani stressed that Muslims enjoy many commonalities based on which they can boost unity and stop the arrogant powers from exploiting the differences in the Islamic world in order to project the divine religion of Islam as the religion of terrorism and violence. In his way, the existing unsolved conflicts among Muslims only favours the enemies and the arrogant powers.
