RNA – Speaking at a conference, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Hamid Rohani, the head of the History Research Foundation and Encyclopedia of the Islamic Revolution, said that over the course of several centuries, the West has been fighting a campaign against Islam and Muslims but they have faced a costly defeat, adding that the Crusades, the Russo-Persian Wars, the Tobacco Protest, Reuters’ concession with Nasir al-Din Shah and most importantly, the Islamic Revolution have been tough defeats for enemies of Islam.
He said that the enemies of Islam have sought to destroy Islam and Muslims from the time of the growth of Islam and added that today, the Global Arrogance Axis, which is led by the United States, wants to destroy Islam.
“For many years, the enemies have been trying to impose a form of Islam on the Muslims which is compatible with the culture of the West and only focuses on issues, such as worship, in order to damage pure Muhammadan Islam and isolate the clergy,” he said.
Hujjat al-Islam Rohani explained that while the West uses the slogan of democracy to achieve power, it supports various forms of treason and dissension among different groups. The late Imam Khomeini encouraged the Iranian people to rise up against the Shah’s dictatorship to show that Islam is not a religion which allows human rights abuses. “The victory of the Islamic Revolution exposed the West’s [false] claims over democracy,” he said.
The Iranian scholar said that the colonial powers want to say that [true] democracy is limited to their version and cannot tolerate that Iran’s Islamic system, with its sublime values, can institutionalize religious democracy in the country.
In regard to Iran’s upcoming February parliamentary elections, he encouraged the Iranian people to “carefully” vote for those who support the values of Islamic Revolution and Iran’s independence, which has been gained by the blood of its martyrs who fought against oppression.
