RNA – Ayatollah Mortaza Moqtadaei said: “We are facing critical times and the enemies of Islam seek to attack Islam and then disappear. Today, the enemies consider the best means to realize their goals is to incite differences among Muslims, especially between Sunnis and Shi’as.”
The secretary of the Supreme Council of Seminaries stated that with the scholars’ presence in the field and their explanations of the Islamic law based on the Holy Quran, their efforts to promote Islamic unity among Muslims and their publications are a good barrier against the enemies.
Ayatollah Moqtadaei emphasized their struggles on the path of Islam, their imprisonments, martyrdoms and injuries and the suffering that they have endured, adding that in order to achieve their goals, they must create unity among Muslims so that they can stand against the enemies.
The member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts said today, the enemies seek to instill doubts over Shi’a beliefs and to distort them to create Islamophobia and Shiaphobia.
Ayatollah Moqtadaei stated that in the past, Sunnis and Shi’as lived together and acted in a brotherly manner toward each other, but in the past few years, the enemies have been creating duality and division between these two groups and our duty is to make the people aware of the dangers of sectarianism.
His Eminence said that we are the followers of the Ja’fari school of thought and you are followers of the Shafi’i school of thought, adding that Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq had a high respect for Imam [Muhammad ibn Idris] al-Shafi’i and when he arrived in Imam al-Sadiq’s presence, he stood up in respect of him and Imam al-Shafi’I had mutual respect for the Imam as well. “So, we must have the same respect for [Sunnis] as well,” he said.
