RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Sayyed Mahdi Alizadeh-Mousavi, the director of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Research Centre, has said that since the rise of the thought of ibn Taymiyyah in the 14th and the spread of the Wahhabi ideology in the 18th century, the Islamic world has suffered from sedition and discord.

"This deviant sect has accused Muslims of heresy and polytheism, joined the ranks of those brought irreparable blows and the destruction of the great works of religion and sought to reduce the stations of the prophets and saints in the service of the Western colonialists and enemies of Islam," he added.

Hujjat al-Islam Alizadeh-Mousavi said that the British were the first to consider Wahhabism as a religious reform movement, similar to Protestantism in Christianity, and promote that the Wahhabi ideology is opposed to superstition and sought freedom of opinion, thought and that Wahhabis are the revivalists and liberals of Muslim world.

His Eminence explained that in the current era, the Saudi and Wahhabi muftis are servants of the foreigners and with their fatwas and support for Takfiri groups such as ISIS they have killed a large number of Muslims. They have completed the Zionists and imperial powers’ project to fight true Islam through the use of the power of discord.

The Iranian scholar noted that once we examine the development of ISIS in Europe, we realize that the movement that began in the West and Europe and that the Takfiri terrorist group has the strong support of Western governments.

“Statistics show that about 2,000 to 3,000 French nationals have joined ISIS, and now, they have returned to haunt their creators,” he said.

In reaction to French President, François Hollande's announcement where he said France’s enemy is not Syrian President Bashar al-Assad but rather ISIS, the Iranian scholar said: “If Europe really wants to be successful in their policies, they should not blindly support American policies in the region."

"France could have taken such a position before as the al-Assad government was not a threat to France and now, the French government wouldn’t have pay such a heavy price,” he said.

Hujjat al-Islam Alizadeh-Mousavi stated that Western countries thought they could use Takfiri groups, such as ISIS and the al-Nusrah Front, as tools against the Syrian government, but they did not consider that through these use of these tools, they would light a fire which would cause many problems for them have become clear due to the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.

He added that it is possible that France seeks to take advantage of these terrorist attacks with the intention of increasing its presence in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East. In the sense, they seek to increase their number of warships and troops in the region.

Hujjat al-Islam Alizadeh-Mousavi concluded by saying that France will have to realize that their goal is not to deal with terrorists in the region, as Russia has in Syria. If they want to combat ISIS, they need to increase their force against these terrorists in order to remove them from the Middle East.
