RNA – Speaking in a meeting with officials from Iran’s Supreme Court, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani said the main questions we must ask are “who created ISIL?” and “where were such Takfiri groups trained?” In regard to these questions, the United States, European countries and the countries in the Middle East which support ISIL must provide answers for their crimes.
The cleric stressed that Western superpowers, along with some regional countries, have exploited the power vacuum in several Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, for their own greed and spoke of dividing this war-torn Arab country.
“Western countries and Middle Eastern state sponsors of terrorism, which are reactionary countries where there is no sense of freedom, have supported ISIL, al-Qaeda and other extremist and terrorist groups,” he added.
Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani noted that John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, has recently announced that the US officials should not be blamed for their role in creating ISIL. “However, not only should they be condemned but rather they should be convicted of supporting terrorist groups for creating ISIL,” he said.
He said that the Americans have eyes and ears everywhere in the world and strongly enforced their sanctions on Iran in every country in the world so why is it now that cannot fight these Takfiri movements. “Also, don’t they know in what manner ISIL oil tankers have stolen the property of the people of Syria and Iraq and which routes these tankers pass and where the oil is sold?!” he asked.
His Eminence said that the West has claimed for the past two years that they are fighting ISIL but they haven’t even launched one serious attack on any ISIL target. They realize that the people of Iraq and Syria, with Iran’s assistance, have been genuinely fighting ISIL.
Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani expressed regret over the people slaughtered by terrorists in Yemen, Lebanon and France and added that we are saddened whenever any innocent person is killed, even those from countries whose leaders are supporters of terrorism.
Addressing European state sponsors of terrorism, he warned that they should realize that the Takfiri terrorism which they have promoted in the world is extremely uncontrollable and uncontainable and added that according to some reports, a significant number of French youth have expressed interest in ISIL. “Even if a small number of youth express their support of this terrorist group, it is considered as a tragedy,” he said.
Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani stressed that the only way to combat ISIL is for Western governments to end their support for Takfiri terrorist groups and Middle Eastern states which support ISIL.
