RNA – Shaykh Abbas Zgheib, a member of Lebanon’s Association of Muslim Scholars, has issued a statement condemning Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris and called on the families of the victims to have patience.
He addressed French President, François Hollande, saying: “Wasn’t this attack the result of same freedom that you and other [Western] countries support in Syria and other Muslim countries?”
The Lebanese Shi’a cleric said that the terrorist acts in Paris were the result of the terrorist ideology that the French government has supported in the Middle East.
“This tragic incident in Paris was due to the actions of Western governments, especially the United States, in the Islamic world,” he said.
Shaykh Zgheib said that Takfiri groups seek to distort the true face of Islam. “True Islam is free of violence, but the Islam that these groups claim to adhere to results in nothing but crimes and murder,” the cleric said.
His Eminence said that true Islam condemns these terrorist acts as Muslims believe that all human life, Muslim or non-Muslim, is honourable and worthy of respect.
On the evening of November 13, nearly 130 people were killed and 350 others injured after assailants struck at least six different venues in and around the French capital in Paris.
The Takfiri terrorist group, ISIL, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
