“We believe in democracy and vote of people for deciding the fate of Syrians,” Ayatollah Seddiqi underlined, saying the Syrian nation is the only party that has the right to elect a president in peaceful and safe conditions, after combatting the threat of terrorism.
Lauding Assad as a hero of resistance to foreign pressure, the cleric said time proved that Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei’s insistence on support for the Syrian government is the only correct path leading to the victory of resistance.
Syria has been in a civil war since 2011, with opposition factions and terrorist groups such as ISIL and the Nusra Front fighting the Syrian Army.
More than 250,000 people have been killed so far in Syria due to the violence perpetrated by the terrorists.
