RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah, Ayatollah Sayyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri referred to the US embassy takeover in Iran after the Islamic revolution in 1979 saying that the presence of students in the protests across the country during the past three decades has been unprecedented.
His Eminence said that even though the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has been signed, the wisdom and warnings made by the Supreme Leader and the Iranian people’s insight led them to participate in demonstrations against the arrogant powers and announce to the world that Iran’s fight against the imperialists is supported by the Quran and is based on reason.
Qom’s Friday prayers leader pointed to Ayatollah Khamenei’s letter to President Hassan Rouhani, saying that the Supreme Leader’s nine-point requirements over the implementation of the JCPOA was very important and should be referred to as a charter and be given its due attention by the country’s authorities.
In light of the JCPOA, Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri stressed that historical experience shows us that Iran should not be optimistic that the arrogant powers will change their stance toward Iran, explaining that Mohammad Mossadegh, the Iranian Prime Minister from 1951-1953, suffered because he optimistically assumed that he could rely on the Americans to help fight the British, which led to the 1953 coup d’état against him and his overthrow.
“Until the day that we are certain that the spiteful enemy has ended its animosity toward us, our case against the arrogant powers will remain open,” he said.
The representative of the people of Bushehr in the Assembly of Experts also referred to regional issues, saying that Mohammad-Javad Zarif, the Iranian Foreign Minister, participated in the October 30 peace talks in Vienna over the crisis in Syria where he strongly defended Iran’s positions. “The stance of the Islamic Republic of Iran is always based on logic... Fortunately, most of the concluding statements at the talks were based on Iran’s views,” he said.
Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri stated that during these talks, the Islamic Republic of Iran called for the preservation of the territorial integrity of Syria, an end to foreign interference in the affairs of regional countries, free elections and an end to the arming of terrorist and Takfiri groups by foreign powers as important for the region.
He said that President Bashar al-Assad is the legitimate president of Syria but foreign powers are arming and supporting terrorists in an attempt to overthrow him, but in Yemen, they are calling on the former Yemeni president, Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who had resigned, to return to power. “Those who are committing crimes and funding terrorists in Yemen are pursuing a policy of double standards,” he said.
Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri said Saudi Arabia must desist from its crimes and bombing of Yemen, saying that more than five thousand people have killed during its brutal bombardment of the impoverished Arab country over the past seven months and added that the Saudi government is a regime which does not show mercy to women and children. “How can they consider themselves as the ‘Servants of the Two Holy Shrines?’” he said.
