RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Ahmad Beheshti, a member of Iran's Assembly of Experts. referred the anniversary of the capture of the American embassy in Tehran stressed the need to continue the fight against the arrogant powers, especially the United States, saying: “November 4 is considered one of the most memorable days [in Iran’s history] and is also the day of the Imam [Khomeini]’s exile [in 1964] as well as the anniversary of the tragic killing of students [at the University of Tehran by agents of the Pahlavi regime in 1978].”
Infamously known as the “Den of Spies,” United States' embassy in Tehran captured by the students who called themselves Muslim Student Followers of the Imam [Khomeini]’s Line on November 4, 1979 and some of the staff kept as hostage for 444 days. The event is also known inside America as the 'hostage crisis'.
His Eminence added that line of those fighting the arrogant powers must always be clear and transparent because the enemies and arrogant powers will not stop their arrogant and tyrannous actions, saying: “They are willing to do whatever it takes to dominate the world, even if it means killing innocent people and sowing discord among them.”
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom stated that the face of the arrogant powers is unsightly and is well-known and stated that until the arrogant powers stop their arrogant behaviours and the suppression of weak nations and of Muslims, they cannot be trusted in any way.
Ayatollah Beheshti added that the arrogant powers are intensely working to suppress weak people, especially Muslims, and in order to do this, they commit all sorts of crimes.
“Hence, it is the duty of all Muslims and the Islamic Republic of Iran to demonstrate clear morale in fighting the arrogant powers so that they can reach a glorious outcome, just as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] has stressed,” he said.
He said that so far, Iran has not suffered any danger by fighting the arrogant powers, adding: “Fortunately, through its fight against the arrogant powers, the honour, prestige and authority of the Islamic Republic increases every day. For this reason, this path should continue.”
The Iranian scholar and politician criticized those who claim that Iran’s problems are due to its fight against the arrogant powers. In reply to these claims, he said: “If the country’s problems are reduced through compromise, the fight against the arrogant powers will lead to the increase of the country’s resistance. The enemy has been trying to suppress the Iranian people through sanctions but the people have shown a sense of vigour and joy despite the sanctions.”
Ayatollah Beheshti said that with compromise the adversities facing the country will increase, stating: “During the Pahlavi era, we saw that the government was a complete puppet of the arrogant powers and the problems facing Iran were far greater than the problems we currently face. Compromise cannot solve the underlying problems.”
