RNA – Speaking at a meeting of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom, Ayatollah Mortaza Moqtadaei, referred to the stampede in Mina on September 24, stressing that this tragedy which killed around 5,000 people occurred due to the incompetence and ineptitude of the rulers of Saudi Arabia.
His Eminence added that the victims’ souls ascended to heaven on the holy day of Eid al-Adha and stated: “God-willing, they will be granted forgiveness.”
In reference to the “decisive warning” from Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei to the House of Saud, Ayatollah Moqtadaei stated that these words had a “significant impact” and led to the Saudi’s agreeing to Iran’s demands, including identifying all of the deceased.
The vice-president of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom expressed hope that the House of Saud will agree to Ayatollah Khamenei’s proposal to establish a fact-finding committee to determine the root causes of what occurred in Mina and added that this will determine that the House of Saud is incompetent.
Ayatollah Moqtadaei stated that this “major tragedy” is a sign of the incompetence of the House of Saud and added: “Saudi Arabia does not deserve to be the ‘Custodian of the Two Holy Shrines’ and the Muslim world must look for solutions in regard to this disaster.”
