Rasa – Iran’s Chief Justice has stated that the roots of the current immigration and refugee crisis affecting Europe is a result of the Western wars in the Islamic world.
Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani

RNA – Speaking to judiciary officials on Monday, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, the Chief Justice of Iran, referred to Sacred Defense Week which starts Tuesday and in honour of the memory of the martyrs and warriors who defended the Islamic Republic of Iran during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War, said: “It was [previously] unthinkable that due to the efforts of Iran’s people, Basij forces, Revolutionary Guards and army during the war, many opportunities that have led to the progress and excellence of this country have emerged.”

He explained that during the harsh conditions at the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, war was immediately imposed on Iran, during which many countries came together to help our enemy and nobody could have imagined that the perseverant nation of Iran would be able to withstand such an all-encompassing attack.

Iran’s Chief Justice stressed that Iran did not even lose an inch of land to the enemy during the “Imposed War” and described the Iranian people’s resistance as a “divine miracle,” noting that this miracle must be found in the teachings of Imam Khomeini, which arose from the teachings of the Infallible Imams.

“Today also, the survival and progress of the Iranian nation and the continuation of this path will save Iran from the enemies’ conspiracies and a variety of economic and non-economic sieges and promote the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom,” he added.

Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani pointed out that the culture of jihad, martyrdom and sacrifice insures the Islamic Revolution against the enemies’ plots and stressed the necessity of planning and attempting to continue the spirit of jihad, sacrifice and martyrdom in Iranian society.

He added that the enemies of the Islamic Revolution are using false pretexts in an attempt to distance the younger generation from the spirit of jihad and religion and to promote vulgar Western culture, saying: “In order to deal with such attempts, we must be vigilant and make plans.”

Unity against Zionists’ crimes

He referred to recent events in Palestine and the Zionists crimes against Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque, saying that this ongoing aggression against the first qiblah of Muslims and the silence of Islamic countries over this issue is regrettable.

Iran’s Chief Justice said that instead of uniting against the Zionist enemy, the ISIL Takfiri group and other terrorist groups which are causing sedition in the region, it is unfortunate that some Islamic states have supported these groups and have paid no concern to the aggression of the Zionist regime and their encroachments against the first qiblah of the Muslims.

The roots of the refugee crisis

Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani also referred to the current immigration and refugee crisis concerning the exodus of Syrian and North Africans from their impoverished and war-torn homelands, saying that the recent crisis which is now effects Europe and the West is the result of Western support of terrorists.

“We now see that these same countries who are supporting terrorist groups, have been incapable and have been rendered helpless by the arrival of several hundred thousand refugees,” he said.

He added that while the Islamic Republic of Iran has hosted millions of refugees for over thirty years, both from Afghanistan and other countries, including Iraq.

His Eminence stated that rather than discussing the number of immigrants admitted, he hopes that Europe and the United States moves toward resolving the root causes of this crisis.

Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani stressed that the root cause of this crisis is due to the Western financial and military support of extremist and terrorist groups and added that this support must end, saying: “Instead of supporting these groups, the [West] should allow these nations to decide the destiny and future of their countries.
