RNA - During a press conference of Sheikh Salman's defense panel, Lawyer Jalila Assayyed stressed that the court does not enable lawyers to provide evidence "and therefore, things do not bode well."

Lawyers Abdullah Shamlawi and Assayyed indicated that the court looked like a fortified castle during first appeal hearings held Tuesday.

The both revealed that the court rejected to present the evidences that include speeches' recordings and meetings upon which Sheikh Salman is charged, stressing that such evidences are sufficient to prove Sheikh Salman is innocent.

On Tuesday, Bahrain’s Court of Appeal refused bail for opposition leader Sheikh Ali Salman pending its review of his conviction for allegedly inciting ‘disobedience and hatred’, while the prosecution demanded his four-year sentence be stiffened.

Sheikh Salman was convicted of those two charges in June, but acquitted of the more unjust one of seeking to topple the monarchy and change the political system in Bahrain.
