RNA – Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani has met with Dr. Mohsen Rezaei, the secretary of the Expediency Council, at his office in the holy city of Qom.
The two sides discussed the pressing issues facing Iran and the Islamic world.
His Eminence expressed regret that the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group has tarnished the image of Islam with their gruesome crimes and brutalities, saying that these actions has been their greatest attack. “All Islamic countries must confront ISIL and work together and unite in order to eliminate this sedition,” he said.
The revered source of emulation added that he believes all the problems can be overcome with the establishment of positive relationships and dialogue among Islamic countries along with honour, dignity and rational planning.
Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani referred to the existence of differences over certain issues within Iran and emphasized that internal divisions are not in the interest of the country or the Islamic system.
“Officials should not create differences for their own personal gain as this would be to the detriment of the country, everyone must strive to preserve the interests of the general public and keep God in mind in their work,” he said.
His Eminence stressed the need of the government to solve the economic problems of the people, saying that those officials responsible must work hard to end the economic problems facing the people, especially the poor.
He also noted that the government must not levy heavy taxes on the people, adding: “Do not put too much pressure on the people by taxing them more than they can handle. However, taxes should be used in their proper place and avoid applying them where it contrary to Islam and religious law.”
At the end of the meeting, the Iranian cleric prayed for Dr Rezaei’s success and told him not to become discouraged in their work and to realize that through prayer, all problems and difficulties will be resolved.
Dr. Rezaei also delivered a report on the situation in the region and the Islamic world and also spoke on the economic, political and cultural situation in Iran.
