RNA – Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi, a member of the Assembly of Experts, said some sociological theories state that a society governed by pressure and oppression at necessary times will not prevent society from moving toward disintegration, explosion and fragmentation.
His Eminence added that there are other sociological theories of which state that the government’s oppression can lead to the disintegration of society and rejects the use of violent action by the government as useless.
Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi made the remarks at a ceremony commemorating those martyred in the 1978 Black Friday event. Black Friday is the name given to a massacre which occurred on September 8, 1978 during protests against the Pahlavi monarchy.
Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi said that according to the Holy Quran, the issue of government oppression can lead to the deterioration of the durability of a society and it can cause the decline of a community.
“If there was a community who had a high level of faith, certainly no pressure can lead it to destruction, but in contrast, a society with weak faith can lead to an exercise of power by the government which can lead them to the brink of destruction,” he said.
The representative of Fars in the Assembly of Experts referred to the events that took place during the Islamic Revolution, saying: “We saw the kinds of actions taken by the tyrant regime of the Shah on the principle of firmness which used dictatorship and power to create fear and panic which pushed society toward isolation.”
Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi praised the revolutionary spirit of the great founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Ruhollah Khomeini, and said that 1963 saw the beginning of his revolutionary and courageous movement against the Shah’s tyrannous regime. Even when he was exiled to Najaf, he was able to lay the basis for the establishment of Wilayat al-Faqih (Guardianship of the Jurisprudent).
“By reading Imam Khomeini’s writings from this period it was quite evident that he was proficient in behavioural and political sciences and based on this outlook, he was able to correctly envision a great revolution in the Middle East,” he said..
The deaths and the reaction to them has been described as a pivotal event in the Iranian Revolution when any “hope for compromise” between the protest movement and the Shah’s regime was extinguished.
Israeli war on Gaza proved failure of use of oppression against Palestinians
In another part of his lecture, the professor in the Islamic Seminary of Qom denounced the brutal behaviour of the Zionist regime’s leaders, saying that during the 2014 Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, Israel applied all possible acts of violence, but the strong faith of the people of that impoverished and besieged coastal strip helped them until the end of the war when the Zionist regime conceded defeat. This war proved the failure of the use of the Zionist regime’s use of oppression against the Palestinian people.
Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi also stated that resistance is the key to the victory of the Yemeni people against the Saudi invaders. In the recent war on , we see that only with the weapon of faith, can the Yemeni people resist the attacks on their impoverished nation by a coalition of Arab countries who have sold their souls to the Saudi regime.
“Ultimately, the Yemeni peoples’ resistance will lead to the victory of this Muslim nation,” he said.
He stated that humanity is returning to the principle of its existence, adding that today and in the modern world, even some adherents of Communism have come to the conclusion that eventually all of the activities of modern society lead them toward God Almighty and that [Islamic] monotheism can provide a solution to all the problems in society.
In regard to the events before the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi, Ayatollah Haeri-Shirazi that certain signs will appear among the people and added that the aforementioned statements could be considered as a sign and on the basis of these signs, we should walk toward unity and justice.
