RNA – In wake of political accusations that Lebanon’s Amal Movement is inciting protesters in Beirut, Hujjat al-Islam Hasan Farhat, a member of the movement’s political bureau, said in a statement: “One cannot accuse the Amal Movement of acting in contradiction to the truth and creating danger in Lebanon. This movement is not afraid to express itself.”
He stated that some media mouthpieces linked to foreign and domestic political movements have accused the Amal Movement of provoking protestors and involvement in the violent clashes between police and demonstrators protesting over the government’s failure to collect garbage from the streets in recent weeks.
The senior Amal official explained that the movement has given many martyrs to preserve Lebanon’s territorial integrity in the face of usurping Zionist regime, saying: “The victories of the Islamic Resistance against the Zionist regime in the past few years and Takfiri terrorist groups more recently are due to the support of the Amal Movement and its fighters. The accusations by individuals associated to foreigners and reactionary countries cannot damage the important actions of this movement.”
