RNA – Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Sa’id al-Hakim, one of the most prominent Iraqi sources of emulation, has met with Marco Carnelos, the Italian ambassador to Iraq, at his office in the holy city of Najaf for discussion over the current situation in the strife-torn Middle Eastern nation.

The Iraqi scholar stressed the need to fight extremism and eradicate the Takfiri terrorist threat from Iraq and added that Iraq can solve the current problems and crises if foreign powers did not intervene in the internal affairs of the country.

He condemned the silence of international organizations over foreign countries’ interference in Iraq’s internal affairs, calling it “a kind of ignorance” and a “failure” and added that the international community must not remain silent in the face of the promotion of Takfiri extremism and the travel of foreign extremists to Iraq.

Ayatollah al-Hakim stressed that if nothing is done to combat extremism, there will be irreparable consequences and grave dangers for the world.

He pointed out that Shi’a belief stands against this wave of extremism, while others do not have a similar firm stance.
