RNA – Mahdi Chamran, the head of Tehran’s municipal council, has met with Shaykh Na’im Qassem, Hezbollah’s deputy secretary-general, during a visit to Lebanon. Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad-Hasan Shariatmadar, was also present. The two sides discussed the current issues in the region.
Shaykh Qassem highlighted Iran’s role in the establishment of security in the region and added called on the local officials to recognize Iran’s capabilities in dealing with the Takfiri terrorist threats in the region and added that regional countries should give Iran permission to manage the crisis in region.
“If allowed, the Islamic Republic of Iran can play a constructive role in helping the peoples of the region.”
He explained that Iran’s history of support for the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon and Palestine indicates Iran’s high level of cooperation with the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance fighters in efforts to liberate the occupied territories from the usurping Zionist regime.
In reference to Iran’s agreement with the P5+1 group of countries over its disputed nuclear program, the Lebanese cleric added that the superpowers of the world were forced to negotiate with Iran and this is due to Iran’s key role and status in the Middle East.
The negotiations show that these powers recognized Iran’s importance, he said adding that "for this reason, it is beneficial for regional countries to cooperate with Iran.
Shaykh Qassem explained that Hezbollah is proud of its close relationship with Iran. “The wise leadership of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] provides many advantages to Lebanon and Hezbollah. Hezbollah’s continuous victories have been recognized as one of blessings of its relationship with Iran. This has been for good of our country and the region,” he said.
