RNA – In a meeting with leaders, managers and staff of the Revolutionary Guards, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami, Tehran’s temporary Friday prayers’ leader, stated that the victory of the Islamic Revolution dumbfounded the arrogant powers of the world.
He stated that after the Pahlavi monarchy’s suppression of the massive June 5, 1963 demonstrations against the arrest of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, this tyrannous regime thought that their regime was completely secure but based on this wrong analysis, they could not even imagine the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the fall of their regime in the near future.
“They did not think that the Islamic Revolution would even last 36 years and the fact that it has succeeded is the most bitter event for them,” he added.
Ayatollah Khatami stated that the arrogant powers violently suppressed the Islamic Awakening and popular uprisings in the Middle East, including in Bahrain and Egypt, because they saw them as “emergencies” that they had to act quickly against in order to protect their interests and goals in the region.
Tehran’s temporary Friday prayers’ leader explained that as part of their hasty plan to suppress the Islamic Awakening, the US’ CIA and Israel’s Mossad created and trained ISIL and other Takfiri terrorist groups and their leaders, including Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
“Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has admitted that [the US and Israel] created ISIL,” he stated.
His Eminence added that polarizing Islamic society by emphasizing the disparity between Sunni and Shi’a Muslims is another of the arrogant powers’ conspiracies against the Islamic Revolution.
In order to do this, they have supported the actions of Takfiri Shiites who exhibit divisive behaviour and make derogatory remarks about Sunni religious sanctities which deepen and amplify the discord between Sunnis and Shia’s, rather than bringing them closer together.
In other remarks, Ayatollah Khatami emphasized that the enemies seek to create opposition among the Iranian people over the nuclear agreement, especially in the realm of cyberspace and newspapers.
He also said if the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is approved by Iran, it does not mean the end of the slogan “Down with America” or reconciliation with the American government as some have demanded from Iran. “This is a false illusion because we completely disagree with the United States,” he stressed.
He stressed that Iran will never forget the plight of the oppressed throughout the world, especially those in Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen and Syria, and added that Iran will continue its support of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, saying that Iran sees them as a legitimate group of fighters resisting the Zionist regime which is an occupying power. “Israel’s security is one of the goals of the P5+1 group of countries [for signing the JCPOA],” he explained.
