RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Board of Directors of the Assembly of Experts, referred to the speech made by Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, saying one of the most important points made by the supreme leader was "his statement that the United States seeks to suggest that Iran has retreated from its principles by signing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)."
He said that in Ayatollah Khamenei’s second Eid al-Fitr sermon and in yesterday’s speech in Tehran, he refuted such suggestions. “[The Leader] stated that such delusions are absurd and that Iran absolutely did not retreat from its principles,” he said.
Ayatollah Khatami added that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s core principles include its struggle against the occupying Zionist regime and its support of the Islamic Resistance, not only in Palestine but also in other countries, including Iraq, Bahrain and Syria.
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom quoted the supreme Leader as saying that Iran will support anyone who is fighting against the Zionist regime and added that "this stance is based on the principles of Islam and the Holy Quran."
[Ayatollah Khamenei] stressed this based on the fact that the fate of the agreement [with the P5+1 group of countries] has still not been finalized either in the US or Iran,” he said.
His Eminence stated that the US Congress has still not made a decision on the nuclear agreement and the legal process has not yet concluded in Iran. “Thus, that which the US has stated is nothing more than an illusion,” he stressed.
Ayatollah Khatami praised Ayatollah Khamenei’s “brilliant guidance,” saying: “All praise be to God that we have a leader, who like Imam [Khomeini], supports the [Islamic Revolution’s] principles with the same strength. It seems this is a line that deserves the attention of all the followers of Wilayah (Guardianship).”
